The Swiss Army Knife of Cleaning Products

Dish soap, the Swiss Army knife of cleaning products.

Dish soap, specially Dawn dish soap is very popular among almost all cleaning “gurus”. The utility with this product is actually astonishing after I did further research. Some even claim that it’s good emergency toothpaste, but please don’t try this theory at home.

The majority of people only use their dish soap to, you guessed it. Wash dishes. However, dish soap like a lot of other cleaning products use a certain chemicals that degreasers use. Since Dish soap is less toxic than your typical degreaser people are starting to opt in to the idea of using dish soap to create a degreasing solution.

All you need for your homemade degreaser is;

  • Baking soda
  • Dish soap
  • Spray bottle
  • Distilled white vinegar
  • Warm to hot water

It’s very simple, first make sure your spray bottle is washed and rinsed.

Add 2 teaspoons of baking soda to your spray bottle, add 3-4 squirts of your dish soap, add 1 cup of vinegar and 1 cup of warm to hot water. (If you have a much bigger bottle, remember that it’s a ratio of 1:1 when it comes to vinegar and water)

Now you have your degreasing solution. Works wonders when it comes to cleaning ovens and anything kitchen related.

When you start working with any solution like this, make sure your solution rests on the surface of your greasy appliance for 15-20 minutes.

It’s amazing the value of a bottle of dish soap. You ran out of laundry detergent? Use dish soap as your emergency laundry detergent. You ran out of your cleaning solution for your mop? Use scented dish soap. Did you know that you can even wash your hair with dish soap a well?! Wonderful ,huh?

Don’t you love dish soap, because I do.

Now remember, dish soap is a great second option for cleaning anything other that dishes. It’s always good to go back to your regular cleaning solutions since they are made for certain things too. Always try to keep it clean, even if you are short in you supplies.
